Network Diagram

Also known as: Network architecture diagram

A diagram showing the contractor's network topology, in-scope systems, security boundaries, and connections. A required component of the SSP.

A network diagram is a visual representation of the contractor's network topology — showing in-scope systems, network segments, security boundaries (firewalls, VLANs, micro-segmentation), trust zones, external connections, and the relationships between components. It is a required artifact for any CMMC Level 2 assessment.

A defensible network diagram clearly distinguishes the in-scope environment from out-of-scope segments, shows where Security Protection Assets sit relative to Information Systems, identifies all entry and egress points, and is current as of the assessment date.
