DCMA

Also known as: Defense Contract Management Agency

Defense Contract Management Agency — the DoD agency that administers active defense contracts and houses DIBCAC, the in-house cybersecurity assessment team.

The Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) is the Department of Defense agency responsible for administering active defense contracts: monitoring performance, conducting quality assurance, and ensuring contractors meet their contractual obligations. DCMA is the day-to-day government interface for thousands of defense contractors.

For CMMC purposes, DCMA is relevant primarily because it houses the Defense Industrial Base Cybersecurity Assessment Center (DIBCAC), which conducts both DoD-led Medium and High assessments under DFARS 252.204-7020 and Joint Surveillance Voluntary Assessments (JSVAs) under the CMMC 2.0 program.

If you have an active DoD contract, you likely already have a DCMA contract administrator assigned to your program. That person is your government touchpoint for any cybersecurity assessment activity initiated by DCMA or DIBCAC.
