CAGE Code

Also known as: Commercial and Government Entity Code

A unique identifier assigned to defense contractors by the Defense Logistics Agency. Used to identify contractors in SPRS and other DoD systems.

A Commercial and Government Entity (CAGE) Code is a unique five-character identifier assigned by the Defense Logistics Agency to companies that do business with the federal government. CAGE codes are used throughout the DoD acquisition ecosystem to identify contractors in contract awards, payment systems, and compliance reporting.

For CMMC purposes, the CAGE code is the identifier used in SPRS to record the contractor's NIST SP 800-171 self-assessment scores and CMMC certification status.

Large contractors often have multiple CAGE codes (one per division or facility). Each CAGE code may need its own SPRS score and CMMC certification.
